Mercado Latino

  • Established: 2003
  • After suggestions from Latino homeowners, NEDCO opened Mercado Latino, an open-air Latin American marketplace, in downtown Eugene, Oregon. The marketplace operated during the summer months from 2003 to 2005.
  • Red Barn Marketplace

  • Completed: 1982
  • Formerly Brogden's Feed and Seed Store built in 1913
  • The historic preservation project is now home to the Red Barn Natural Grocery
  • Located at 357 Van Buren in Eugene
  • New Day Bakery

  • Completed: 1982
  • Formerly the Willis Building built in 1942
  • The historic preservation project is now home to New Day Bakery
  • Located at 345 Van Buren in Eugene
  • O.U.R. Federal Credit Union

  • Completed: 1999
  • NEDCO, the City of Eugene, and O.U.R. worked collaboratively to renovate a historic site and relocate the credit union into the Whiteaker neighborhood. The move put the credit union in the heart of its membership and encouraged the development of new programs to better serve its members.
  • Located at 325 Blair Blvd in Eugene

  • Baldwin Market

  • Completed: 1996
  • Purchased and renovated the historic Baldwin Market, which houses businesses on the first floor and two apartments above
  • Located on Monroe Street between 7th and 8th Avenues in Eugene
  • Red Apple Grocery

  • Completed: 1991
  • When a major grocery store in the Whiteaker neighborhood closed, NEDCO purchased the property, encouraged new ownership, and retained a full service grocery for the neighborhood
  • Located near 5th and Monroe in Eugene
